East of Lincoln about 7 miles is Bennet, NE. South off Hwy 2 on Hwy 43. Bennet has nearly doubled in size and is now about 500 people. The school system is part of Palmyra Bennet District OR1 and the grade school for the district is in Bennet, with bussing to Palmyra for the students. A nice city park provides recreation and the Bennet Community Church serves the community in many ways. There are several small restaurants there including Mamasitas, popular with many Lincolnites. City offices, Rural Water District office, post office, Voice News office and several auto repair centers, a beauty salon with massage, tractor and trucking businesses, car dealearship and insurance office in addition to other small businesses comprise their busy downtown area. There is a Caseys on the corner of the highway. Several acreage subdivisions surround the town. Bennet is an active and growing community.
