What Makes Lincoln Home?

To someone on the outside looking in, Lincoln, NE may not appear to be any different than most cities of it's size across the country.  However, if you ask the people that call Lincoln home, they will tell you just what it is that makes Lincoln stand out from the crowd.

When you ask residents of Lincoln what it is that makes them comfortable calling Lincoln home.  You'll get a variety of answers.  The one that seems to pop up the most...safety.  You can be comfortable letting your kids play outside without the overwhelming fear that something will happen to them.  The crime is significantly lower than bigger cities around the country.  This is largely noted by residents who have relocated from some of these bigger cities.  The unemployment rate in Lincoln tends to be one of the lowest in the country. Another thing noted by residents is the lack of tornados that come through town.  Even though most of Nebraska sits in what is called Tornado Alley, it seems they always go around Lincoln.  There are several theories as to why this happens.  Ask 5 different residents, and I bet you'll get 5 different answers!

Lincoln residents are fortunate enough to have a variety of family activities to choose from here in the city.  There's several different parks that are perfect for a day out with the family.  Pioneer's Park sits in the southwest corner of the city.  This has been a favorite family outting for many years.  Take the kids out and feed the ducks that gather regularly around the water.  It's a great place to have big family gatherings, as there's playgrounds for the kids, and enough picnic tables to seat even the biggest family.  Take a walk through the Nature Center, or check out some of the animals that call the park home.  In the winter, you can take the kids sledding out there as well.  Sunken Gardens is  great place to take a walk and enjoy all of the different types of flowers that surround you.  Its also a popular wedding location.  Across the street you will find The Lincoln Children's Zoo.  Looking for some great food and Lincoln history rolled into one? Take a trip downtown to the Haymarket.  You'll find a variety of different restraunts, and Haymarket Park, home to Lincoln's own minor league baseball team, The Salt Dogs.  The Haymarket will also be home to the new arena that is being built for large scale events like concerts.  If you enjoy bike riding, Lincoln is home to several different bike trails that run throughout the city.  Just like with real estate, it's all about location! Looking to get out of town for a weekend, or just the day?  Lincoln sits about 45 minutes from Omaha, NE.  It also sits about 3 hours from Kansas City, MO.

More often then not, when you ask people of Lincoln what it is that they love about the city, the answer you're going to get is Memorial Stadium on Husker game day! During college football season, Memorial Stadium becomes the 3rd largest city in Nebraska each home game.  College football fans from all over who have been to a game here will tell you, there's no place like Lincoln, Nebraska on a football Saturday.  The tailgating starts early, and the wins are celebrated late.  The chants of Gooooo Biiiiigggg Red echo throughout downtown.  There really is nothing like Memorial Stadium on game day!!

Lincoln's a bigger city with a small town atmosphere.  A great place to raise a family, a place where if you need help, a passing stranger or a neighbor will be happy to lend a hand, and if you're thinking about joining us, we would be happy to welcome you to our town.
